- ERASMUS exchange: If an ERASMUS partnership exists between your home university and Freiburg, you may be able to apply for one or two exchange semesters at Albert-Ludwigs-University. For an overview of the ERASMUS partners of the Department of Economics, see here. Please consult with your local ERASMUS coordinator regarding selection and nomination procedures. Nominated students may apply for admission. Information and Downloads concerning application and admission to the University of Freiburg can be found here.
- Departmental exchange program with the Business School at the University of Wisconsin - Madison: Admission and Enrollment formalities of nominated students will be dealt with in Freiburg. You will receive personal assistance upon arrival.

... as a Free Mover/Short Term Student (non-degree seeking)
- If no exchange program between your home institution and the Albert-Ludwigs-University exists, you can apply under certain conditions for one or two semesters as a so-called "short-term student". Information on admission requirements can be found here.
... in full-time studies with degree
- Full-time study "B.Sc Volkswirtschaftslehre" (standard period of study: 3 years): This degree program is currently not restricted. Those who meet the formal criteria for a university study in Germany may apply until 15 July of each year. Information about the application and admission procedure are available here. In addition to the formal admission criteria for a successful study of the major economics, a very good command of the German language and good mathematical knowledge are essential. As English literature is also used, good English skills are helpful as well.
- Full-time study "M.Sc Economics" (standard period of study: 2 years): This English-language master study course is aimed at graduates of business studies from all over the world. The number of participants is limited, application deadline is 15 July each year. Information on the courses, admission and application are available here.
