Outgoings: Freiburg students

As a full-time student at the University of Freiburg, you have a wide range of opportunities to complete a stay abroad. The possibilities can be categorized as

(1) studying at a partner university

(2) self-planned stays at a foreign university (free-mover)

(3) internships abroad

1. Studying at a partner university: During your studies you have the possibility to spend one or two semesters at a partner university abroad. This can be done within the framework of a faculty exchange (i.e. a partnership of the department of economics) or within the framework of the university exchange (i.e. a partnership based on university level).

> Faculty Exchange:

The Faculty or the Department of Economics and Business Administration has its own exchange partnerships with faculties across Europe (ERASMUS), USA, Brazil and Japan.

 > University Exchange:

Further opportunities for exchanges are provided by the University's worldwide partnerships. The exchanges, which are open to students of all departments at the University of Freiburg, are awarded centrally by the International Office. Inform yourself in time about partner universities and application modalities here: >>Global Exchange Program

Please note that the allocation of exchange places is in many cases one year in advance. In addition, the IO offers the information event "Wege ins Ausland" .

2. Free-Mover: Another option for spending one or more semesters abroad is to apply to universities on your own initiative as an international free moving student. The International Office will advise you on possibilities of funding (e.g. scholarships), since free-moving students have to pay tuition and other possible charges, such as application fees. >International Office

3. Internships abroad:  A traineeship abroad is also a popular opportunity to spend a longer period in another country. The ERASMUS program supports such stays with a monthly grant. We have summarized detailed information here: >Internships abroad
